Last Friday, some members of Chicklabs’ team were fortunate enough to attend the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County’s Visionary Women Luncheon. This fantastic event was created seven years ago by the Visionary Women Leadership Circle, chaired by Kirsten Mangers, our beloved Chicklabs C.E.O.
The memorable event took place at Rancho Las Lomas: the breathtaking home of 2012 honoree Jeannie Lawrence. Among the vast gardens, Spanish-style architecture, and exotic animals, guests were treated to a delectable lunch of butternut squash soup, mixed greens and chicken breast salad, and assorted desserts.
Each year, the Visionary Women Circle of the Alzheimer’s Association honors Orange County caregivers who display extraordinary compassion in caring for those touched by Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of dementia. On Friday, the dedication and courage of six inspiring women was celebrated. These women included Dolores Estrella, the family caregiver honoree from Buena Park; Jane Mahakian, Ph.D, MFT, the medical professional honoree from San Clemente; Josefina Ortiz, the family caregiver honoree from Riverside; Aileen Sherman, the administrative professional honoree from Tustin; Deziree Bedolla, the youth caregiver honoree from Garden Grove; and Stephanie Gieskes, the professional caregiver honoree from Anaheim.
Actress Rita Moreno was the guest of honor and entertained us all with her humor and wit, and also shared her touching story of her husband’s battle with Alzheimer’s and how it has affected her life.
